Feb 02, 2008 Team SSF kids showed their skill set yet again, this time in Louisville,KY at the EGO Tournament competing in both the Gi and No-Gi formats.The competition was fierce and incredibly technical with competitors coming form far away as Florida. The team was supported by the SSF Fighting Moms and coached by Erica Schwalm who is also the kid’s biggest fan. The Gi format was wide open as there was no bracketing for this part of the event which left all four of the younger boys competing together for the feather weight title. Emerging victorious over a field of 11 competitors was our own Tony S. who continues to dominate the high end competition for his weight class. The other boys turned in outstanding performances as well but their time to shine wouldn’t be till the No-Gi portion. In the No-Gi format the kids were finally broken down by weight and division. Eric S. and Oscar Y. finished with a one-two punch respectively taking their division, CJ S. placed third in his division with Tony S. capturing another second place for the team. Also competing was Team SSF's assistant coach Cody S. who performed very well, once again against a phenomenal field,capturing the third and final second place in the Gi format for Team SSF kids. In all the team left with six medals (2-1st, 3-2nd, and1-3rd) to add to their collections and will begin preparing for their next tournament in March at the Kentucky Quad State Tournament.  Nov 17, 2007 Paducah KY-SSF fighter Wille Smith (Clarksville SSF Submission Academy) 1-0 won his MMA fight via choke in the first round. SSF fighter Ryan Ridley (SSF/Family Fitness Murray KY) 1-0 won his MMA fight via Rear Naked Choke in the 2nd round.

Kids Yellow belt promotions; Oscar Ybarra, Tony Sabatino, Chase Perry, CJ and Cody Schwalm were promoted to yellow belts. Kids white belt promotions; Sadie Sabatino and Tyler Howell were given stripes. New instructor at SSF Eric Schwalm is joining SSF to help out with the kids and adults grappling program. Eric is a brown belt in Judo.

We ordered a ton of Zebra mats and wall pads today. The painters will be at SSF Submission Academy next week to get the outside of the building looking good.
